Sr. Finance Manager, Manufacturing Collaborations, PROP Finance

Responsibilities:
The Sr. Finance Manager supporting Genentech's Manufacturing Collaborations group will be responsible for managing all financial aspects of contract manufacturing at Genentech. The Sr. Finance Manager is part of the PROP Finance group, which is charged with the financial stewardship of Genentech's PROP (Product Operations) organization. The Manufacturing Collaborations group is responsible for managing Genentech's commercial and development partners, and contract manufacturers. This includes performing due diligence of potential new partners and supporting implementation of new technologies, in addition to selection, startup and management of contract manufacturers.

Duties will include:
* Forecasting, reporting and analysis of cost of production and manufacturing variances for contract manufacturers.
* Monthly closing, review and reporting of production and inventory activity at contract
manufacturing sites.
* Identify, analyze, forecast and report potential exposures to cost of production.
* Gather and provide cost information to cost accounting for calculation of standard costs and development cost estimates.
* Collect data and develop models to estimate production costs for the prospective outsourcing alternatives.
* Act as the financial representative on partner selection teams through RFP, proposal evaluation, recommendation and execution of contract.
* Provide financial analysis and due diligence support to Contract Manufacturing team in Partner negotiations.
* Work with Genentech staff located at the contract manufacturing sites to resolve financial issues and offer financial input on operational site decisions.
* Provide financial management of manufacturing contracts, which includes tracking milestones, site audits and cost analysis.
* Oversee development of new business systems (eg: SAP), working with the PROP Finance and Corporate Accounting organizations.
* Ensure that group financial and accounting data and records are accurate and aligned with principles governing manufacturing operations (GAAP, Genentech Good Operating Principles-GGOP).
* Ensure compliance with SOX for internal controls and other requirements.
* Track and provide financial performance metrics aligned to group and PROP goals.

Requirements include:
* Excellent interaction and communication skills.
* Familiar with current accounting pronouncements and their application.
* Ability to work in a complex and dynamic environment with progressive requirements.
* Proactive and organized, plus ability to multi-task particularly during crunch periods.
* Ability to manage several different customers simultaneously.
* Commitment to customer service with a strong sense of ownership for projects and results.
* Excellent PC/system skills, including Excel, Essbase, COGNOS and SAP.
* 10-12 years in accounting or finance, preferably in a pharmaceutical or biologic manufacturing environment, including good understanding of key cost drivers.
* Strong leadership and influencing skills.
* Must have fun at work.

Education:
* MBA strongly preferred
