As part of the Jazz Pharmaceuticals finance department, the Sr. Manager, Operations Accounting is responsible for revenue accounting activities, including the review of all revenue related transactions for compliance with revenue recognition criteria, and the related costing of inventory and cost of sales.
Revenue Accounting - Responsible for review of revenue contracts and agreements initiated by our business development and legal groups. Perform revenue recognition, calculation and payment of gross to net revenue offsets, and monthly and year end tasks related to all receivable, deferred revenue and revenue related accounts. Oversee invoicing and collections which are outsourced. Participate in cross functional team with commercial operations on government pricing and reporting and managed care contracts.
Cost Accounting - Responsible for participation in a cross functional team with supply chain management for tracking materials and products at contract manufacturing and third-party distribution locations. Verify inventory transaction reports and perform monthly and year end tasks related to cost of sales, inventory values and reserves, and product margin analysis.
The Sr. Manager, Operations accounting will:
- Prepare borrowing requests and reporting package for secured bank line of credit.
- Participate in a cross functional team for the development of revenue and gross margin budgets.
- Function as primary liaison for outside auditors’ review of revenue and cost transactions and controls.
- Provide support for SEC reporting as required.
- Update and maintain relevant SOX documentation, including new SOX policies and procedures as needed.
- Participate in assessing property and casualty insurance requirements for remote inventory locations.
- Assist in the development of tax apportionment factors based on sales and inventory.
- Serve as key financial resource providing research, analysis and ad hoc financial support to department managers and senior management.
- Ensure that all journal entries and account reconciliations are completed timely, contain adequate supporting documentation and are properly reviewed and approved.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:
BA/BS in finance or accounting is necessary
Minimum six years revenue accounting experience, particularly related to revenue recognition and experience with inventory and accounts receivable systems is required
Pharmaceutical industry experience preferred
CPA/MBA a plus
Experience in SEC reporting is helpful.
Excellent attention to detail
Proven ability to operate in a complex dynamic environment
Strong interpersonal skills, including ability to communicate complex financial information to people at all skill levels and levels of management
Proficient with financial reporting systems and ability to learn new tools and applications
