Associate Director, PROP Finance

Summary
Responsible for financial management of and business advisory to the Oceanside Product
Operations Business Unit (BU). As part of the PROP Finance group, responsible for the
financial stewardship of Genentech's PROP organization.

Job Responsibilities

* Partner with BU management to achieve targeted operating costs and other manufacturing-related financial objectives.
* Provide financial stewardship on capital investments and support for Oceanside BU.
* Ensure BU management understands the impact of success rate, yields and throughput and support continuous improvement of these metrics
* Propose and lead business interventions as necessary to maintain progress toward financial goals
* Serve as single point of contact for BU, advising on financially related questions. Participate in BU staff meetings in order to understand business drivers and key issues of manufacturing operations.
* Actively identify tactical and strategic opportunities within the BU, develop decision frameworks, and coordinate analysis efforts.
* Communicate findings and present recommendations to senior management.
* Provide decision-support analysis to operational leaders on BU-specific projects / initiatives. Leverage technical financial knowledge and available data to ensure analyses are well founded and thorough.
* Lead planning exercises (forecasts, budgets, long-range plans) for BU and manage their execution.
* Assist operations team in achieving and sustaining Class A.
* Develop and manage a staff to optimize financial business partnership
* Manage financial aspects of Collaborative Agreements that directly impact the BU (e.g. third-party supply agreement).
* Ensure that BU financial and accounting data and records are accurate and aligned with principles governing manufacturing plant operation (GAAP, SOX, Genentech Good Operating Principles - GGOP).
* Support Internal Controls audit activities within the BU. Influence the development of accounting policies and their application within the BU, utilizing advanced knowledge of financial and accounting theory and practice.
* Oversee development of new business systems (eg: SAP), working with the PROP Finance and Corporate Accounting organizations.

Job Requirements

Education and Experience

* Bachelor's degree in Accounting/ Finance or equivalent work experience and 12 years experience including at least 5 years in a supervisory role.
* Or MBA / CPA with an emphasis in Finance and 8 years financial experience in a manufacturing environment.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

* Highly advanced technical financial knowledge with exceptional analytical acumen, business foresight, and problem-solving skills.
* Strong ability to apply analytical and modeling techniques to examine business issues and influence decision making *Independent self-starter and proactive leader.
* Initiates and drives change.
* Strong communication and presentation skills and demonstrated success building partnership across organizational boundaries.
* Commitment to customer service with a strong sense of ownership for projects and results.
* Highly developed management skills.
* Familiar with current accounting pronouncements and their application.
* Ability to work remotely from Corporate Offices.
